NASCAR Hall of Fame breaks ground!

See the below news regarding today's groundbreaking at the new NASCAR Hall of Fame and NASCAR HQ office tower from WXII12.com. Im not a huge NASCAR fan. I don't dislike it by any means, but I just never got into it. But, I know it is a huge and widely popular sport and it will be a good thing for the city of Charlotte, especially the Center City. This is a destination attraction. People will travel to Charlotte to go to the NASCAR Hall of Fame and also visit other destinations such as the upcoming EpiCenter, pro football and basketball, the upcoming museum complex, the upcoming baseball stadium, etc. These are all key components as Center City Charlotte works its way from a bankers city to a destination city. CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR officials and some of the sport's top names will help break ground Thursday on a Hall of Fame in Charlotte. Charlotte was picked last spring as the location for the sport's Hall of Fame. It beat out four other cities. Nearly all of the top race teams are headquartered in the cities and towns north of Charlotte, and many top drivers own luxury condominiums in downtown Charlotte or palatial homes on nearby Lake Norman.
Officials hope to have the facility open in 2009.
